This Is It

This was the first morning Michael Jackson's movie was playing in theatres for us mere mortals ... family and celebrities have already watched the movie.
When I realized today was the day, I threw on my clothes and raced down to catch the first showing.
Let me just say it was worth every penny.
Michael Jackson was a true genius and this movie proves it.
I took a few pictures in the theatre while trying to be discreet, most didn't turn out... I was sitting pretty high up.

There are rumors about the concert promoters using a body double and I can confidently say, the rumors are completely false.
Michael Jackson appeared healthy, energetic and mentally stable.
I know this might sound nutty, but I'm going to have to side with LaToya Jackson and her suspicions about MJ's life being cut short. Yup, nutty.
From the moment the movie started to the very end, I sobbed and loved every moment of it.
If you are an MJ fan I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Enjoy the music, enjoy his artistry and sit back and admire the passion he had for everyone and everything around him. The man is AH-MAY-ZING!!!

This Film is Dedicated to Michael Jackson's Children Prince Michael I Paris Prince Michael II ("Blanket")

RIP MJ

Pioneer Woman Goes Live

Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman was on The Bonnie Hunt Show today to promote her new cookbook and she was awesome!
I found her blog like I've found every other blog I read... via links. Ever since then I have enjoyed every story about her family and life on the ranch. What really hooked me in was when she wrote about the day she met her husband in a smoky bar and their whirlwind romance a few months thereafter.
Sigh... I want to marry a cowboy too.
In case you missed her segment on the show today, someone was kind enough to post a clip of it on Youtube.
Enjoy!
ETA: The Pioneer Woman's clip on The Bonnie Hunt Show is no longer available on Youtube due to terms of violation. Wah! So I leave you with a snapshot of PW cookbook.

Award

I want to send a BIG thank you to Midtown Girl for bestowing upon me this awesome award.
It still amazes me how in this big world of ours we can make friends with people living thousands of miles away.
If you haven't visited her blog, jump on over and take a peek.
A blog says a lot about a person and judging by
Midtown Girl's blog, she is one cool chick.
Her stories about online dating and life in NYC are a riot! She's a true fashionista with impeccable taste. I hope you enjoy reading her blog as much as I do.

Now I would like to pass this award on to...

Jen at Wife, "Mom", Knitter and

Valerie at Life's Little Garden.

Both ladies have delightful blogs. They generously share tidbits about their personal lives, daily activities and crafts. They spread their kindness and joy by helping others in many ways.
For example... Jen donates her knitted goods to those in need and Valerie volunteers at the community church . They are good people and I'm lucky and honored to call them my blog friends. Thank you, Girls! xoxo

This Crazy Virus

I popped in to see the latest health news on the Preppy Pettit twins and it looks like they are doing just fine, which is great! Thank you to everyone that said a little prayer for them or left a sweet comment.

Unfortunately, a student in one of the classes I sub in a lot has the swine flu. As his mother was telling me the news this morning, I could tell it took all her strength not to cry. The little guy is at home with the proper medication and will be fine, but will be out all week.
As I went out to pick up the students, I informed the parents, that were present at the time, about the student's illness and advised them to try to sanitize everything at home because I was going to do the same in the classroom. You should have seen the expressions on their faces...concern and fear!
As we went into the classroom and tried to settle down, several parents approached me and asked what they could do to help me clean. Before I had the chance to fill-up a bucket with soap and water, they were wiping down tables and chairs. Wow, these are awesome parents!
This class is taught by my friend G. She is very lucky this year because this is an exceptional group of kids. By the actions I saw this morning from the parents, it's no wonder they are such great students...they learn by example.

A Young Life

I try really hard to keep my blog positive and fun.
Tonight's post might not be much fun, but I'm hoping you can find the positive by sharing a little love and prayer.

Today I worked at the school attended by the latest victim of the H1N1 virus in San Diego, a 5 year old kindergartner. When I drove into the school parking lot, I counted four news vans parked on the cross street of the school campus. From what I was told, it's believed they were at the school all night and remained all day broadcasting from the area and interviewing parents willing to share their opinions and comments.

It was a very solemn day at Howard Pence Elementary.

The first graders I worked with today were well aware of what had happened to their fellow classmate. They have also been well instructed on personal hygiene and the safe way to cough and sneeze without spreading germs. There was a point when one student reminded me about using hand-sanitizer before lunch... gold star for her!

The latest news events lead me to this...
There is a fellow blogger dealing with the H1N1 virus in her household. I hope she doesn't mind me posting her link, but I just want everyone to pray for her adorable and adventurous pre-school twins, a boy and girl she affectionately calls J and T.
The other day she posted about the doctor being 99.9% sure her babies have the swine flu.
One of them has underlying ailments and the swine flu only worsens the situation.
If you would like to click on over and send her some words of encouragement or just a little prayer, you can find her at Preppy Pettit .

Thank you Everybody.

Friday Excursion

I was out-and-about at the Liberty Station in Point Loma with a friend today and came across this shiny Tonka Truck.

Wow, look at the shiny chrome...

and the pretty lights.

It's Wednesday?

Last night or should I say early this morning, I stayed up past 3:30am reposting all of my pictures on this crazy blog of mine.
Since I operate on medium to high levels of OCD, I couldn't leave my blog looking bare.
I'm trying to figure out wordpress to make the move, but for some reason, I can't. Oh geez, I'm losing touch with my inner geek.
But... before my late night picture-posting slumber party began, I worked on my cardi-vest sweater.
I posted about it on the Sweater KAL blog, but I basically broke some bad news and good news to my fellow KALers.

The good news is, one-half of my sweater is done.
The bad news is, it doesn't fit.
Back to square one for me. It's such an easy pattern and fast knit, but I left my project to the last minute... of course, because it's what I do best (I believe this contradicts my OCD). Now I have to think fast and make changes.

Before I stopped whistling my happy tune, I watched Twilight for the upteenth time. Love the scenery.

And... snacked on a tasty treat.
How can anything go wrong when you're enjoying a Happy Caramel Apple, right? Or so I thought.

Excuse me while I go frog a cardi. :-)

Picture-less

I've recently discovered a few things about Blogger.
First, Did you know that blogger uploads and stores all pictures from your blog and places them into a Picasa photo album?
Second, if you delete all the pictures from the Picasa photo album(s) they will also be deleted from your blog and your computer hard drive. Great. This does not sit well with me. I don't want anyone other than myself to have access to my computer's hard drive.
So, last night I transfered all my pictures onto a removable disk.

Whoever invented this little device is a genius.
It holds so much information and I can carry it around with me on my keychain to work and back.
I'm going to try to re-insert all the pictures missing from my blog, but I might leave some blank. I apologize if you see big blank squares.

Right now, I'm seriously thinking of hopping over to wordpress. I've already registered and trying to familiarize myself with the setup. Does wordpress pull this kind of thing? Is it worth the move? If anyone would like to chime in, I'm more than willing to listen.
Thanks a bunch. :-)
