It's been crazy hot here in supposedly, cool San Diego. Gawd, I'm melting! My little fan can only do so much to keep me perspiration-free.
As I write this post, I'm impatiently waiting for 4pm to roll around because a group of hometown boys are making headlines across the nation. These "little guys" (one of them is 6ft tall...What are they putting in the water?) are going to play the game of a lifetime. The Little League World Series. The game was scheduled for 1pm Pacific time but was delayed due to rain. We could use some rain right about now.
Good luck Park View Little League!!
UPDATE: The little dudes did it! They won 12-2 and are
All the kidlettes are back in school around these parts, so my post have been sparse. I've been helping out my friends in their classrooms decorating walls to display student work.
In a previous post, I shared a picture of Zeke the BIG dog. On that particular day, he took ME for a short walk while I was watching him for my friend, LS. Lol. He's a good dog, but for some reason likes to bark at men or anyone wearing dark clothing...just a fair warning. :-) I took Zeke's picture after our morning visit to Starbucks before heading to the classroom for some beginning-of-the-school-year prep.
I wanted to share a picture of my friend's (TKK) classroom writing wall. I wish I had a picture of the entire classroom to show everyone that she is one - of many - extremely organized teachers I work with in this school district. It's a characteristic of a great teacher; they have the student's best interest in mind by providing a positive, clean, safe and stimulating classroom environment. So much time, money and materials go into preparing for a new school year. Unfortunately, this year the teachers were not compensated/reimbursed for any outside expenses because of the lack of funds. Chalk it up to budget cuts.
Yesterday was movie day for me. The plan was to watch Katherine Heigl's new movie, The Ugly Truth, but didn't make it on time for the first showing, so I went to Walmart. When I finally dragged myself out of the craft department and lined up at the register to pay, I realized I missed the second showing, so my backup movie was The Hangover. The Hangover was a funny movie, but if I were a frat boy, the tasteless humor would be less disturbing. Since I work with kids... a pedophile carrying a baby in a snuggie really bothered me. I know it's only a movie, but I've worked with kids that have been abused in more ways than you can imagine... because of it, I can't recommend this movie if you share my sentiments.
Right about now I need some lighthearted, good, clean humor and I always seem to find it when I watch Anderson Cooper cohosting with Kelly Ripa on Regis and Kelly. If I happen to miss his appearances I can always catch them on the Chat Host archives. Anderson Cooper or as a well known comedienne calls him, Coopie, has the best sense of humor and most of the time he's not even aware of it, which makes him even more likable. Right now I should be working on my sweater, but I really need a good laugh, so I leave you with a clip of AC sharing a story about his encounter with four drunk girls trying to use the ATM machine. I laughed so hard when I first saw this clip. I'm hoping it'll make you laugh just as much. Enjoy!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The past several days the weather has been hot and muggy, nothing surprising for this time of the year, but ick... feeling sticky is not my thing. I've spent most of my time indoors sewing a few tops and a dress... yup, still sewing... in front of a fan. This was the last top I whipped up (pictured)...it's in the wash right now... it's swirling around in the suds with the dress I made right after. Hopefully, I'll take a picture of the dress soon.
The Sweater KAL started on Saturday, though I haven't officially started knitting, I did pull out the bag with the yarn in it...hope it counts. I kept the yarn in a green reusable grocery bag that's been hanging in my closet, forever; the yarn is recycled from a sweater that almost-was from two years ago (repurposed?). I just had to face facts and realize it was never meant to be, so sad. My pattern has been printed, stapled and ready to go.
