Sharing Laughs With Walmart

While reading Mocha Momma's blog, which btw is hilarious, I happened to catch a mention about a site called the People of Walmart. Since I am a Walmart patron, out of curiosity, I decided to click on over. Let me just say what I found was disturbing, but funny at the same time. It's great that this big world of ours is made up of many interesting people with their many eccentricities, but after lurking through the site, it's clear most of them shop at Walmart.
Mental note to myself: Look in the mirror before stepping out the door. And, would Tim Gunn approve of my outfit?

Example #1 - Words can't even begin to describe this outfit.

Example #2 - I hope she's going to a Halloween party after her shopping trip at Walmart.

Exampl #3 - There are no words.

Click on over and enjoy!

Road Trip Tunes

While driving home from L.A. we listened to
Luis Miguel ... swoon.
Need I say more?

Road Trip Pics Galore Part 2

We had lunch as soon as we arrived at Universal Studios.
This is a view looking out of the Saddle Ranch Chop House.
Our server's name was Nick. We must have batted our eyelashes and flashed our pearly whites -just right- because we scored free dessert from Nick; a giant brownie with nuts, a giant scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, topped with some whipped cream. Yum!

This character was hanging out by the shops.

We took the Universal Studio Tram Tour. While on the tram I could have sworn I saw Redd Foxx and said so...aloud - my friend then whispered to me, "I think Redd Foxx is dead." Um, I think she's right. I felt dumb.
ETA: Good ol' Redd has not been with us since 1991!
Okay, I feel really dumb now. For more info go to IMDb.

Anywho ...this is the airplane wreckage used in one of Tom Cruise's movies. Never saw it, never will. Once Tommy Boy went off the deep end with his Scientology nonsense, I wrote him off.

This dude was looking purrrdy and hitched a ride, but was in dire need of a sip of water. Universal Studios is getting ready for their Halloween events and this is one of their many setups.

The Bates Motel ... ho hum ... moving on!

A marquee displaying the clever use of the number 5 and the letter Z. I know there's a recession, but come on people, sometimes we need the number 2!

An amusement park is not complete without a giant guitar and The Hard Rock Cafe.

We left as hordes of SEMPRA people were coming in for the evening's festivities.
As we drove home we listened to our favorite singer, Luis Miguel. There's nothing like a Luis Miguel ballad to make the drive home enjoyable in the Los Angeles traffic.
Thanks for coming along, hasta la vista.

Vacay and Road Trip Part 1

Yesterday was the first day of a two week school vacation. Weird, I know... school just started and it's break time. Trust me when I say it's a well deserved time off. It has been a trying month for many educators and the little ones that aren't used to a full day of instruction.
I wanted to share with you a few questions asked by some very anxious 1st graders that I've heard almost on a daily basis at school, starting with ...
"Is it recess yet?"... asked 30 minutes into the school day.
"Is it lunch time yet?"... asked 5 minutes after recess.
"Is it almost time to go home?"... asked 15 minutes after lunch recess.
Bless their little hearts.

On Saturday, I went on a road trip with a fellow teacher and good friend, A.B.
Her sister works for the electric company and it was SEMPRA employee day at Universal Studios, so off we went to SmogAngeles. It was hotter than a griddle and muggier than a swamp, but we soldiered on.
I tried taking pictures of interesting things to share, but it turns out the snapshots are nothing to write home about...really.
But I'll share them anyway....

So we're on our way... of course, we had to make the mandatory pit stop at Starbucks an hour and a half into our drive even though we had just been there before we started our journey.

While at Starbucks, we found this little guy looking in. Whatta cutie! His owner said I could have him for five bucks. Ya right! He's worth more than that, but too bad I couldn't take him home with me. Bye little guy.

On the road we saw this guy. I wonder if he's worth more than five bucks? Nice shot.

Traffic, yuck!

To be continued on another post...

Autumn

I am so ready for Fall. I've gone ahead and changed my header and font colors to reflect the new season.
Bring on the cooler weather.
