Comfort Food And Warm Hats

For the longest time I've been trying to find the recipe for Marie Callender's Potato Cheese Soup. I try to order it whenever I dine at the restaurant. If you've been lucky enough to have tried this scrumptious soup, you know what I'm talking about. The warmth and comfort feeling it brings you on a chilly day is worth every spoonful of however many millions of calories it contains.
Not too long ago I searched several websites for a Potato Cheese Soup recipe hoping to replicate the flavor and I think I finally found one on the Campbell Soup website.

The first time I made it, my taste buds were overjoyed. I couldn't believe how close it was in flavor and consistency to Marie Callender's soup.
I was so excited that I called my friend, L. (Hi L!).
I've made it a few times now - every time adding a new ingredient, but today I made it exactly as the recipe instructed. Yum!

I added croutons to my soup... you can see them floating around in my bowl.

If you want to try it out, here is the link to the recipe's web page. Bon Appétit

While I was making potato cheese soup for this chilly day, I was also gathering the hats I've knitted in the last couple of months. I was saving them for a massive Knitted Hats post, but I think I'll start tonight with one.

This is just a fun striped hat I made with Vanna White's yarn in pink and white. It's on the roomy side with a fun slouchy look and very warm.

More hats on the next post.

Sweater KAL, Done!

My Cropped Cardi Sweater is finished!

I posted some info on the Sweater KAL blog too, if you're interested.
Some deets you may want to know:
The pattern: Found in the Knit.1, Fall/Winter 2008 - #19 Cropped Cardi, by Mari Lynn Patrick.
Needles used: Circular Sz 15
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick
Color: Fisherman
Mods: Since it's supposed to be snug and cropped, two features that do not compliment my... well, let's just say, full-figure and broad shoulders... I added a few stitches to make the cardi roomie. For more pictures and projects you can find them on Ravelry.

The cardi is warm and cozy and fits nicely, but the open stitches on the sides bother me. It almost makes me want to seam them closed. What's holding me back? I don't like seaming, which is the reason I knit mostly hats and scarves.

It took me several tries to get the back center-seam to blend, but by using the mattress stitch (after several tries) you can hardly see where it closes.

Now it's time for some hot cocoa and chocolate chip cookies while wearing my warm cardi and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Victoria's Secret Fashion show.

Sharing Some Colorful Spirit

This is one of my favorite Gap holiday commercials airing this season.
I love the bright colorful knits, the peppy song with the catchy tune and the little girls having fun and just being little girls. :-)
Enjoy!

Countdown

I just noticed my Christmas countdown widget is ahead by... 8 hours!
I added it to my sidebar for entertainment purposes.
It wouldn't be a problem if I lived in the UK, but since I live along the California west coast, it can be confusing, not to mention deceiving.
I am in the process of finding a replacement because after all, a blog is not complete without a Christmas countdown widget. Am I right?
But, most importantly, I need a precise count of how many days I have to enjoy twinkle lights, Christmas music and local festivities. :-)

Holy Moly!

I'd like to preface this post by saying... I'm not one to wait around to find out the ending of a book, movie or any type of televised competition. For this reason, I encourage friends to tell me the outcome of movies they have seen before I've had the chance to view them or books they've read.

Tonight was no different.

All season long I've been watching Dancing with the Stars and cheering on and voting for my teen idol, Donny Osmond. He's been working hard shaking his bon bon for the coveted mirror ball trophy.

Since the show doesn't air for another 30 minutes here in the west coast, I had to search for the final results on the internet after the east coast airing.

And whaddaya know...

HE WON!!
CONGRATULATIONS DONNY OSMOND!

Knitting FO's coming soon :-)

Taylor Swift started off the show with a hilarious monologue.
