That special time of year has come again.
No more sleeping in, vacations are over, and parents are finally getting a break from their kids and enjoying a bit of silence at home.
Yup, it's time to shop for a new backpack because it's back to school for the kids! Woohoo!

Come Monday morning, we'll be able to put a first grader's face to all of these nameplates.
First grade can be a monumental time for a 6 year old, especially on the first day of school.
A few of them know they will be going to school with the big kids now and look forward to the first day. Some will experience separation anxiety and cling to mom or dad. But, hopefully, once they find their desk and see their nameplate along with their very own pencil box full of school supplies, it will put them at ease and give them a sense of belonging. :-)
A few parents will probably linger by the door for a few minutes hoping their babies have a good first day of school. Let's hope they will want to return the next day because they have eleven more first days of school to go.
To commemorate this special time of year, I want to share a clip from one of my favorite movies of all time, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Spicoli's first day of school is one to never be forgotten. Love it.
Be forewarned, this clip contains colorful language, so please watch at your own risk. ;-)
Enjoy!

Heh Heh Heh.
I haven't seen that movie in forever!
So, your school district provides the kids with school supplies? That's interesting because here in CT the parents have to do that.
It wasn't like that when I was in school. It's a sad, sad shame that some states no longer seem to have the budget to do this for the kids.
